    Health Benefits of Tart cherry juice

    Besides Cherry as a fruit, the cherry juice also provides various nutrients to the body and offers numerous health benefits when consumed in moderate amounts:

    1. Maintain blood pressure

    Tart cherry juice has quercetin that acts as powerful antioxidant that lowers oxidative stress in body parts in cardiovascular system. Research has associated that this compound helps to reduce bad cholesterol and blood pressure. It lowers strain on heart and prevents the chances of health conditions such as heart attacks, atherosclerosis and strokes.

    1. Antioxidant activity

    It has anthocyanins which help to prevent cancer. It is considered that it may remain active and found in blood for 12 hours after ingestion. Free radical is responsible for mutation of cells and promotes risk of cancers. Anthocyanins found in this juice prevent the formation of tumors. Moreover, limonene and ellagic acid are the two cancer fighting compounds that are present in this juice.

    Though it offers numerous health benefits, it has various side effects such as weight gain, stomach inflammation and bleeding issues.

    People should consume small amounts of this juice because it is rich in nutrients and calories.

    1. Bleeding

    Tart cherry juice has quercetin that thins blood and protects strokes and heart attacks. It might cause bleeding if used with anti-coagulant medication. One should not consume this juice within few days of surgery.

    1. Gastrointestinal problems

    The juice has meaningful amount of sorbitol that has digestive effect and acts as laxative. When consumed in large quantities, sensitive people might experience bloating, cramping, diarrhea and discomfort. Consume it in moderate amounts.

    1. Pregnancy

    Tart cherry juice has high content of chemicals that might be harmful for baby or might stimulate contractions. So it better to be avoided.
