Compact Machines for Home Exercise During Covid-19

While this article is being written, the world is in the midst of a global health crisis, unlike any crises seen for generations. Millions are dead, millions unemployed, and we are on the cusp of a global recession. This year has been, it’s safe to say, terrible. Whispers of a vaccine are circling, but nothing is confirmed by our governments; they say it will be months before vaccines are made available to the public, so our governments’ advice to us is to exercise. This leaves many wondering how. Gyms are closed, they say, and we are being told not to leave our homes.

This article will hope to answer these questions by offering you a few machines you can use for home exercise during COVID-19 [and after]. By exercising regularly, you will be in a better position to fight off the virus, and your immune system will be strengthened. There has never been a better time to exercise, and it is more important now than it has ever been.

If you are interested in learning about a few machines that can help you to exercise at home during these periods of isolation and lockdown, you’ve come to the right place. Here are a few compact machines for home exercise during the pandemic.

    Why Exercise?

Arguably, it is more important to exercise now than it has ever been before. Remaining fit and healthy can be a great way to ensure the virus does not touch you, and if it does, that its effects are minimal. We are confined to our homes, unable to leave. For many, this means sitting around on their sofas, eating snacks, and generally wasting away. This puts us in an even worse position and means we could be even more susceptible to the virus. Staying indoors, however, does not mean you cannot exercise.

While we are not suggesting you kit out your home with an entire gym, we are suggesting a few useful machines that are easy to store and easy to use. These machines will not break the bank, nor will they be difficult to store, which means that you can easily introduce them into your home.

    Foldable Treadmills

Running is a great cardiovascular exercise and is one that can seriously improve your physical and mental health. However, due to the lockdown and the fact we are seldom being allowed out of our homes [and when we are, it is only for a few hours], runners are unable to run as much as they want or would normally. Treadmills are a great solution to this, but as runners will know, they can be very expensive and a headache to store. There is, however, a solution. Investing in a foldable treadmill is a fantastic way to acquire a machine that will allow you to run until your heart’s content and is easily stored. Simply fold it up and put it underneath your bed or inside your closet. These are a great investment to make.

    Free Weights

Free weights are a great investment to make toward creating a great home exercise area. While they are not, obviously, a machine, they are compact and easily stored, and it would be a sin to not mention them on a page dedicated to home exercise machines. They are certainly the easiest to store weight that you can buy and the most compact. Weight machines are definitely not compact, nor are they easily stored. Free weights can work out your upper body, and you can use them for a variety of exercises. They are an investment well worth making.

    Cycle Machine

Cycling machines, like treadmills, are an intense cardiovascular workout, and they also work out your lower body. Cycle machines are a wonderful investment and can be a lot of fun. Modern cycle machines often come with television screens attached and in-built computers that you can connect to your WiFi so you can watch video streaming platforms and listen to music streaming services. Cycle machines are quite easily stored and need only be packed away and put into a cupboard. They can often collapse or fold down like the previously mentioned treadmills. Give them a look.

    Rowing Machines

The reason we mention rowing machines, while they cannot be collapsed, is because they are small and compact, and usually not very tall. This means that, even if they are long, they can be placed underneath a bed. Rowing machines give you an intense workout, which is why we have included them on this list. Rowing machines can provide a lower and upper body workout, which means you do not need to do many other exercises. They can also be stood upright and placed into cupboards, which makes storing them far easier than most other machines are.

    Stair Climbers

Stair climbers are machines that can usually be collapsed and compacted, and if they cannot, are tall and thin, so they can fit into cupboards quite easily. Stair climbers provide a very intense workout and can be a great way for you to exercise your body. They provide cardiovascular exercise, which is very important for your heart health. Fitness should be at the forefront of all of our minds at the moment, considering the pandemic. It is important that we are very fit and healthy, and we should focus less on strength training and more on fitness exercises.

    Indoor Mats and Equipment

Again, while not machinery, it is always worth having equipment for bodyweight exercises, such as mats and other small pieces of equipment. Push-ups, sit-ups, and crunches are some of the best exercises that you can do with your body, so do not neglect them. It is important to always remember that these exercises are great for you. Indoor mats and equipment are something that you should strive to do – especially during this lockdown. Getting familiar with your body and knowing its limits through bodyweight exercises is a great way to intensify your workout and strengthen your body.

With the help of this page, you now know a few exercise machines and pieces of equipment that are both compact and highly beneficial. It is important that we all begin exercising now and that we no longer treat our bodies poorly. We hope this page was of benefit to you.
